Here is a great opportunity to give back to those in your community who have in tough times offered unwavering support for the jobs we do. The part of the community I am referring to is the older adults in the community. On November 15-17 the NFPA will be sponsoring the Remembering When: A Fire and Fall Prevention Program for Older Adults Conference. This conference is to be held at the Hyatt Regency in Boston Mass. The opportunity that this conference presents to us is a team that consists of a fire department and an agency that is serving older adults in your community. What you would be doing in this team would be making home visits in the various locations in your community where older adults might be living and making sure the Remembering When program is in properly put in place and the resources are there to ensure that the program is adhered to.
What we are looking for is to have fire departments and an agency that serves older adults to submit an application by August 3, 2009 and if they are chosen they will attend the Remembering When conference in November and take that training back to their own community and work to put in place the program.
Here is the link to download an application as the representatives are selected from the various applications that are submitted.
If you want or need more information on this conference or the Remembering When program please visit the website Remembering When Conference
There is much more information on this program on the website, too much for me to mention in this blog. So I highly recommend that you visit the site.
Thank you and stay safe.
