This past Sunday the state of Nebraska enacted their "move over" law, which was passed into law during their winter legislative session last year. This driving force behind this law in Nebraska was due to the fact that two firefighters were both struck and injured one night while working an accident scene. While neither of them sustained life threatening injuries they both did require medical treatment. The state has put up signs educating drivers about the new law in hopes of obviously reducing the number of injuries and accidents at accident scenes. The law carries a fine of $100 for the first offense and any further offenses can carry a prison term of up to seven days and a fine of $500.
