The final ruling has been out a while, however there still seems to be questions on the requirements for fire department apparatus equipment and the types of vest allowed. NFPA 1901, 2009 edition requires one traffic vest for each seating position, each vest to comply with ANSI/ISEA 207, Standard for High-Visibility Public Safety Vests, and have a five-point breakaway feature that includes two at the shoulders, two at the sides, and one at the front. 23 CFR 634: Use of High-Visibility Apparel When Working on Federal-Aid Highways allows for both ANSI/ISEA 107 or 207 vests. A full summary on the latest ruling can be found here for a full explanation. 23 CFR 634 can be downloaded for more information on the federal requirements.

Thanks for clarifying it and providing the links to the summary on the ruling. It's an important topic!

This is good so I'll be honest I didn't understand some points you wrote in here, I'm so interested that's the reason I'd like to get more information if that's possible.
