"Ventilation Decisions," a recent article in Fire Engineering, written by Dave Werner, shares the video above of a house fire and the actions of the firefighters on scene. His point is not to judge the actions of those in the video, and admits that without being on scene he has no place commenting on their performance. However, he uses the video to make some excellent points that everyone can learn from.
He discusses the importance of 360 degree size ups, of understanding flow paths, and of the coordination between ventilation operations and fire attack or rescue teams.
