While middle school students in Sherwood, OR experienced the powerful life-saving effects of residential sprinkler systems in a side by side demonstration on Wednesday, about one hour away in a real fire incident, sprinklers extinguished a grease fire in an apartment home before the fire department arrived. Responding to a call about smoke coming from a ground level unit, the fire department arrived at the scene to find a single sprinkler head had activated, the fire was extinguished, and there was minimal damage.
